Temporary Closing of Roads Notice of Decision Roads Act 1993
South Dublin County Council hereby gives notice, in accordance with Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, that it intends to close the footbridge described as follows:
Footbridge to be Closed: Tay Lane Footbridge which traverses the N7 and is located in Rathcoole, Co. Dublin
Date of Closure: For a period of twelve weeks from Wednesday 26th of June to Wednesday 18th of September 2024.
Hours of Closure: 24hrs a day
This closure is required to facilitate the rehabilitation of Tay Lane Footbridge
Diversion Route:
- Southbound Traffic:
Pedestrians/cyclists shall exit Tay Lane onto the N7 Junction 4 off-slip and travel eastwards along the footpath for 700m to the northern roundabout at the top of the N7 Junction 4 off-slip. Pedestrians/cyclists shall then cross the off-slip and travel south along the footpath over Rathcoole Bridge for 120m until they reach Rathcoole Main Street. From here, pedestrians/cyclists continue southwest along the main street for 770m until they arrive at Tay Lane where the diversion ends. - Northbound Traffic:
Pedestrians/cyclists shall travel eastwards along Rathcoole Main Street for 770m until they reach the roundabout at the junction of Main Street & Fitzmaurice Road. Pedestrians/cyclists shall then head north, continuing along the footpath over Rathcoole Bridge for 130m until they arrive at the northern roundabout at the top of the N07 Junction 4 off-slip. Pedestrians/cyclists shall then cross the off-slip and turn left, travelling westwards for 700m, along the footpath until they reach Tay Lane where the diversion ends.
There will be no through traffic across Tay Lane Footbridge during this period. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
Pedestrians/cyclists are strongly advised to use the diversion routes as identified and only use permanent/temporary pedestrian crossings as provided along the diversion route. Cyclists are advised to dismount over the extents of the diversion route.
Vehicular traffic on the N07 and other adjacent roads will not be impacted by this closure.
