Slade Valley Ancient Road walk

Slade Valley walk

The Ancient Slade Road.

By Tom Mansfield
Think of a time when no road existed from the Embankment to Crooksling to near Brittas
A time when there was no road from the Craddle to the Craddle /Slade Road.
The ancient Slade road connected Tallaght and Saggart to Blessington via Boherboy to Brittas
With the building of Downshire and Glenareen Bridge it became a Coach Route.

Directions:
From Saggart crossroads  travel up towards Embankment and Tallaght ,Enter Judys Pinch at Boherboy (the side road on Right after Irish Water site)and travel up the now closed road to where it is blocked off.
Keep right and follow to a Y and keep right. (Left is the “pinch” or steep hill.)
Continue on over Downshire Bridge and follow the visible old road until you reach a gate at Slade Road.
